How to spot unwanted double clicks
Click slowly, once at a time, about 20 to 30 times. Every press should count once. If the tester logs a chatter warning (two presses closer together than the threshold), your mouse sent a second click you did not make.
The default threshold is 80 ms. Real double clicks by a person are usually more than 100 ms apart, so anything faster is almost always the switch bouncing.
How to fix a double clicking mouse
Blow out dust around the button and try again. Update or reinstall the mouse software, and turn off any macro or click-assist settings. If it keeps happening, the switch is worn: many mice are still under warranty, and the switch can be replaced on most models.
